Let’s Get Moving for Less – Partner support for money saving campaign in 2025!
Posted: Tue, 10 Dec 2024 09:00
A new campaign throughout 2025 is set to support local people get more active, with low or no cost sessions being promoted across individual districts in our region.
The recent Resident Survey answered by over 3,800 residents in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, showed that in people who are inactive, cost is the main reason why they don't participate in physical activity, with 51% saying expense is the main reason and that more affordable sessions would help them to access opportunities to be more active.
Listening to the concerns of local residents, Active Together are set to run a Let's Get Moving For Less campaign throughout 2025, helping people to find free and low cost physical activity sessions in their area.
Active Together will highlight all sessions that are FREE or cost £5 or less per session on the Active Together website – through the creation of a Let's Get Moving For Less section of the website. Clubs and organisations are also invited to check their session information is on the website, to ensure they don't miss out on being part of this campaign!
As well as sessions and activities that are free or low cost in the local area, home-based activities will also be promoted; this includes free apps and YouTube videos.
What can clubs or physical activity sessions do?
If your sessions are free or £5 or less per session, please ensure that these are registered on the Get Active Search Engine.
What's the benefit to clubs?

Jo Spokes, Strategic Lead at Active Together says, 'With so many local people telling us that cost is a barrier to them being active, we want to support our residents to participate in sessions that meet their needs and their pocket. We encourage clubs and organisations to ensure any free or low-cost sessions they offer are listed on our website, allowing members of the public to access more affordable activities in their local area.'
